The OM349P Advanced, Research Polarizing Microscope is unquestionably research grade, and is an exciting addition to Microscope.com. For the first time, we are confident that we have a truly professional polarizing microscope that meets, and indeed surpasses the quality of some of the competing microscopes from Japan. The optics, construction and mechanics are remarkable considering the affordable pricing of this unit. We have yet to see a comparable price/performance equation.
The OM349P combines superior optics with modern contour design and an extremely high level of build quality. The mechanical stage is 150mm in diameter, rotatable through 360° and has 1 degree graduations. Focus is ambidextrous via convenient co-axial coarse and fine focusing knobs. A full set of high quality strain-free Planachromatic objectives are included, mounted in a four-position rotatable nosepiece. Paired with the standard WF 10X eyepieces, these provide magnifications at 40X, 100X, 400X, and 1000X. The microscope head is trinocular, which provides a convenient output for digital image capture, and includes a C/CS mount attachment allowing use of standard C-mount camera systems.
The high-quality primary Polarizer is 360° rotatable on the condenser and has the added convenience of click stops. The advanced Analyzer in the optic path provides specific cross-polarization through the full 90° quadrant. Also included are a set of high quality compensators for advanced polarized polarized observation, including gypsum full wavelength, Quartz wedge, and Mica ¼ wave types. A center-adjustable Bertrand lens is also included for conoscopic observation.
The OM349P is appropriate for applications in petrographic observation (geology), chemical analasyis or physics, and also in new fields of manufacturing and research which have presented new applications for which the OM349P is an ideal tool; such applications include observation of LCD crystals for flat-panel displays, biomedical polymers, advanced liquid macromolecule polymers, and a myriad of other applications requiring advanced polarization.
High quality of construction and solid, professional design make the OM349P an excellent, durable choice for professional labs, manufacturing QC and R&D, research environments, and higher education. As with all Omano professional microscopes, the unit is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.
Altogether, the OM349P provides a full range of professional polarizing features and superior performance that together provide an outstanding level of value.
