Summary
The DS-2 is a digital microscope designed according to a "wish-list" of features drafted by teachers in the US. This microscope can be used in Geography lessons to look at minerals and fossils, in Chemistry lessons to observe and record simple experiments as well as in the more traditional Biology environment. Coupled with a built-in digital camera chip, the DS-2 transmits live streaming images to a computer through a normal USB connection. With the included Motic application software, any image can easily be quantified, measured, edited, recorded and much more.The DS2 can be used as a regular monocular dissecting microscope or, by plugging in the USB 2.0 cable into your computer - as a fully-fledged digital microscope. It offers 20x magnification or, by adding the included 2.0 auxiliary Barlow lens, 40x maximum magnification.Microscope
This monocular dissecting microscope includes a 1/4" live imaging sensor for 640x480 pixel resolution. The head includes a locked 10x eyepiece for security and a built in 2x objective lens for 20x standard magnification. This level of magnification is useful for viewing macro objects such as crystals, insects and petals. By adding the included 2x auxiliary barlow lens, magnification doubles and can be used for viewing simple cellular structures on slides. There is a reversible black/white stage plate and two stage clips. Illumination is provided by a gooseneck LED light that can be angled to focus on any given point of a specimen - a benefit that becomes evident when viewing large, irregular surfaces such as crystals and rocks.Microscope Camera
The integrated camera is built round a 1/4" CMOS sensor to provide live imaging and maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. With the included Motic application software, any image can easily be quantified, measured, edited, recorded and much more. Motic Play and Motic Educator multi-language software is included. They are multi-platform software with a flash-based interface to guide students through the powerful features such as image capture, measuring, and editing. Capture still, live image or time lapse images. Measure lines, rectangles, circles, polygons, ellipses, rhombi and triangles.
