We are impressed by the optics in this microscope. It is an excellent teaching microscope with crystal clear illumination provided by the 24V/100W lighting and identical images in each of the five viewing heads. In other words, the training heads do not reverse the image which makes for significantly easier teaching. A convenient green pointer also facilitates teaching. The pointer has a variable intensity light so it can fade in or out as desired.
All five binocular heads are inclined 45 degrees with the training
heads 17" from the main teaching head. The rotating nosepiece
has four achromatic objectives including 4x, 10x, 40x and 100x
(oil immersion). The 40x and 100x objectievs are spring-loaded to
avoid damaging slide specimens.
Standard Omano features include rack and pinion, 1.25 N.A Abbe condenser, coaxial focusing knobs, adjustable diopters on binocular heads, adjustable interpupillary distance (53-75mm), large mechanical stage (124mm x 153mm) and wide field 10x eyepieces. The microscope also includes a green and blue filter, 10 sheets of filter paper, a bottle of immersion oil and an instruction manual.
