Stereo
microscopes are
low-power dissecting
microscopes with a separate
eyepiece and objective lens for
each eye that enable close-up
3-dimensional images of the
specimen.
The stereo
microscope uses two
independent light paths to
deliver a true three
dimensional image (in stereo)
of a small, physical specimen.
Most stereo microscopes
provide a magnification range
of 5x to 50x, however, with a
more sophisticated microscope
and microscope accessories, a
magnification of up to 100x
(and higher) can be achieved.
The stereo
microscope is used
for magnification viewing of
macro (visible to the human
eye) specimens, such as
crystals, plants, insects and
delicate electronics.
