Microscope Camera Adapters

Microscope Camera Adapters

Microscopes are ideal for viewing live images, but what if you want to take that image and send it elsewhere? Whether you want to save the image to a file, stream it to a computer, or project it up on a classroom screen, you need a way to do so. This is where the microscope camera adapter comes in.

Before the advent of digital photography, adapting a camera for microscopy use required some serious work. Today, however, there are many trinocular scopes on the market that are designed specifically to accept a digital camera through its mounting point. For older microscopes or those that don’t have a trinocular port, you can still use a camera as long as you have the right adapter.

Camera adapters come in many different shapes and sizes and are designed to accept major DSLR camera brands like Minolta, Nikon, and Olympus. There are also universal kits that offer adapters that enable you to use your smartphone camera as well, allowing you to take high-resolution, magnified images from your scope and save them or stream them anywhere.
