We are excited about this simple polarizing unit for the Dino Lite digital microscopes. In fact, the BL-ZW1 was first developed for geological applications to investigate the structure and composition of minerals and crystals.
Another use is for the viewing of thin film which would be hard to distinguish under normal circumstances. The BL-ZW1 should also be of great use for those who need transmitted light for examining objects such as waterborne organisms.
The BL-ZW1 works very well with Dino-Lite's polarizing models (AM4XXZT / AM7XXZT). This easy-to-use back-light stage with polarizing ability comes with an attachable swing arm specimen holder for specific placement of objects. The sturdy and attractive back light stage is powered through a USB connection or an AC adapter. Adjustment of the polarizer is simply performed by sliding the wheel adjustment on the front of the stage.
