    Summary

The world of the epifluorescence microscope is a strange one, and one you’re unlikely to understand at first glance. Fluorescence imaging is a specific subset of microscopy that requires a fluorescence microscope to function.

Fluorescence imaging uses fluorescence or phosphorescence. In the world of epifluorescence microscopy, these specific scopes illuminate specimens using specific wavelengths of light that cause specimens to fluoresce, or glow. The information revealed by examining the type of glow a specimen gives off helps to determine certain characteristics that traditional microscopy can’t. Resolutions of fluorescence microscopes can vary, but it’s not uncommon to see magnification capabilities of 1000x or even more.

The heart of the MT6000 series is a new PE-300W/LEDMT brightfield LED epi-fluorescence illumination system built into the Infinity Corrected Optical System. The illuminator has six positions for filter cubes with three included cubes: Basic Blue, Basic Green and one U excitation cube. Optional phase contrast and darkfield components are available to make a highly versatile microscope popular with both universities and laboratories. Available in binocular or trinocular. Lifetime Limited Warranty.

    Optics

The microscope includes a Siedentopf-type binocular or trinocular head inclined at 30° with a diopter on the left eyetube for individual eye focusing. The interpupillary adjustment range is 53mm - 75mm. The optional Ergonomic Viewing Head can be adjusted within a range of 10-50° to suit individual preference. The DIN Infinity Corrected Optical System (ICOS) includes four semi APO F10x, F20x, F40x and F100x objective lenses set in a ball bearing mounted, quintuple nosepiece. U. Plan and U. Plan Phase objectives are also available.

An 80/20 beam splitter is employed for photomicrography in the trinocular head (100% to eye tubes or 80% to phototube & 20% to the eyetube). Please note that you will need to purchase an appropriate trinocular adapter for your camera.

    Stage & Focus

The ceramic-coated flat top stage measures a generous 191mm x 126mm with 100mm x 100mm X-Y travel and coaxial, right-handed dropdown controls. Left-handed controls are available as an option. Dual-sided coaxial coarse/fine focus controls are standard, with large, ergonomic knobs for ease of use.

    Condenser & Illumination

The condenser is an Abbe NA 1.25 with iris diaphragm and dove-tail mount. A Zernike condenser is available for phase contrast applications. The MT6200CL is equipped with PE-300L/LEDMT which is a LED fluorescence illumination kit, configured for fluorophores such as DAPI, FITC, TRITC & Cy5. Basic Blue, Basic Green and Basic UV cubes are included. The Basic Blue and Basic Green filter sets are designed primarily for viewing the fluorescence of a single fluorochrome. Additional filter sets are available to achieve greater signal to noise ratios.
